High School Award
This season we are excited to be giving out the High School award! The High School award was first added to the National Championships award structure two years ago, and we will now be adding it to the awards structure for Ironman, Smashtown, Muletown, Bigfoot, and State.
What is the High School Award?
- The High School award is a team division award for teams whose athletes all attend the same school. Homeschooled athletes are allowed if they are otherwise zoned to that school. Intermediate/Rookie athletes may be on the team if they attend a feeder school. Collegiate alumni athletes are also allowed on the team's roster.
How are athletes verified?
- To verify that all Senior division athletes attend the same high school, teams must submit a letter signed by the school's principal or athletic director listing all Senior division athletes on the team and confirm that all athletes are enrolled students. Any homeschool athletes must also be listed. The letter must also confirm that they are the correct school that the athlete is zoned to based off of home address.
What if I have a group of athletes from different schools? Can I submit letters from each school?
-No, if you have Senior division athletes that attend different high schools, your team is not able to compete in the High School division.
Can teams place in both the High School award and any regular team award division?
-Yes, teams may place in both categories.
If I am a school team that accepts outside athletes, but does not have any outside athletes on the team, can we compete for the High School award?
-Yes, if no outside athletes are currently on the team, you may compete for High School awards. Once you accept an outside athlete, you are not eligible until outside athletes are no longer on the team.
How often must I submit a verification letter?
- Letters must be submitted once per season. If your team submits a letter to TNSCTP, you will be good for Nationals and will not need to submit a letter to SSSF.
Where do I submit the letter?
-Email it to lmcdavid@tnwf.org
