Academic All State

About

The Academic All-State Award recognizes students who excel in both academics and athletics. Recipients maintain at least a 92% grade average, demonstrate positive sportsmanship, and meet qualifying scores at the Regional and State Championships. This award highlights athletes who consistently uphold high standards in the classroom and in their shooting discipline. Applications for the 2026 Tennessee SCTP Academic All-State Team are open through July 1, 2026. Athletes do not have to wait until they have completed Regionals & State to see if they qualify. If your athlete meets the rest of the criteria, we encourage you to apply when final grades have been sent out, and our team will check which athletes meet the score qualifications.

FAQs

Do scores from Smashtown, Muletown, Bigfoot or Nationals count towards a discipline average?

- If an athlete participated in Smashtown, Muletown, Bigfoot or Nationals, the scores can be added in for “extra credit” towards an athlete’s trap, skeet, or sporting clay average. If adding in the score decreases an athlete’s average, they are not factored in.

I was not able to shoot either Regionals or State. Can I still be eligible for Academic All-State?

- If an athlete had a waiver excusing them from Regionals or State, they will still be able to apply for Academic All State.

Do you round up for grades?

- If a final grade average is between 91 and 92 percent, we will round up to 92. We will not round up for grades below 91.

I can’t attend the Academic All State banquet. How will I get my awards?

- Academic All State awards will be grouped by team. If an athlete is absent from the banquet, their awards will be given to a team member or coach in attendance. If no one is able to pick up the award at the banquet, the award will be mailed afterwards.
